Jared Lorenz
The illegitimate son of a photographer and a musician, Jared Lorenz spent his childhood with a pen and camera in his hands. He was first published at the age of 13 and first worked as a professional camera operator at 17. His first documentary THE ENVIRONMENTALISTS followed a group of activists who attempted and failed to take over the 1996 World Cup Downhill dressed as giant forest animals.
Jared wrote, produced directed and edited his first feature documentary LATE HARVEST (2007), shortly followed by the CIFVF-funded Photo Generation (Producer, Writer, Editor) and the OAC and Canada Council-funded feature ALL OUT WAR (Producer). He produced and edited the VideoFACT funded, acclaimed and award-winning music video for Zeus (Arts & Crafts) MARCHING THROUGH YOUR HEAD.
Jared regularly attends documentary and film festivals such as Hot Docs, TIFF, and IDFA. In 2010, he was accepted into the IATSE guild as an Electronic Camera Operator.
As a corporate and presskit producer and director, Jared has worked with leading brands such as the United Nations Foundation, Junior Chamber International, Disney/Buena Vista, MTV, Smart International, IBM, Scotiabank Group, L’Oreal, Visa, and many others.
Jared has travelled three continents as an independent filmmaker and videographer. Recent television and film credits include writing, editing and post supervision on episodes of the award winning documentary series I PROPHESY for Vision TV, and Director of Photography credits on Stornoway’s doc series OMG and the Hart House / OAC feature on underground music, TORONTO SOUNDS.
